Frederiksted is a little smaller town compared to Christianted. The town named after the Danish King’s Frederik’s Fort built in the middle of XVII century. Even though the town can get crowded when cruise ships stop there, it has a lot to offer and should not be missed. Below are my suggestions on how to spend One day in Frederiksted
One Day in Frederiksted
Walk around the town
The town is substantially smaller compared to Christiansted, so the best way to explore the town is just to walk around. Start from Fredricksted Pier. The pier is large enough to dock two cruise ships. When there is no cruise ships, the pier is a great location to relax and watch the sunset.
It is allowed to dive off the pier when there is no cruise ships docked. Walk to Eliza James-McBean Clock Tower located on central square of the town. From there you can either walk to Fort Frederick or wonder around the street admiring beautiful Victorian architecture.

St Croix in 2 Days
Visit Fort Frederik
Fort Frederik was build almost at the same time as Christiansvaern by Dutch to protect Island from pirates. The entire area around the fort part of US National park Service. So, just like in Fort Christiansvaern National park, Your National park pass will work there. The museum tons of information about the history of St. Croix and slavery on the island. It was very eye opening to learn how badly slaves were treated. The National park area grounds kept not even remotely as good as For Christiansvaern.
Take ATV tour
ATV tour is the best way to explore remote rainforest areas, The tour goes through the rainforest to ancient ruins. You will see spectacular view of the blue water and enjoy huge silk cotton trees. This area of the island looks really beautiful, remote and far from civilization compared to the island towns that you feel like you are watching a movie. With a lot of different species, the rainforest is very interesting to visit , but you need to have the right expectation. Virgin Islands’s raiforest are very different from those in Central America. So, Don’t expect think heavy green leaves, like the those you see in Tikal or Costa Rica.
Sample Cruzan Rum at Cruzan Rum Distillery
St. Croix is famous for .. it’s rum. So, there is no trip to St. Croix without sampling the rum. Take a tour of Cruzan Rum Distillery to learn about the history of the rum production on ST. Croix and sample variety of rums and cocktails in the tasting room. They also have great prices for rum that you can buy and bring back home.
Stop by the Lost Sole Wall
The Lost Sole wall looks just like it sounds. It is a wall that has a lot of non-paired shoes attached to it. With so many bars around the town, I’m surprised the wall have so few lost soles.
Final Thoughts.
From sandy beaches and snorkeling to beautiful old style Victorian architecture , there is a lot of things to see during One day in Frederiksted.
