Here is my easiest and the best banana bread recipe.  I have been using this recipe for 17 years and my family loves it. Have some bananas with dark spots all over them? With 5 minutes of active preparation and couple more ingredients you can turn those bananas into delicious banana bread. So, read on and enjoy my easy banana bread recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup salted butter room temperature
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1  1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 table spoons sour cream for extra moisture

Optional:

  • 1 cups chocolate chips(raising, cranberries, chopped dried apricots or any other dried fruits of your choice)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to ripe bananas

You can make a lot of substitutions in the recipe, but the most important thing here is to use ripe bananas. Ripe bananas have multiple brown spots all over them and feel very soft.

You can easily ripen bananas by heating the oven to 275F and placing bananas into the oven for 15-20 minutes. Once the bananas cool down , they are ready to be use for banana bread recipe.

Banana Bread recipe substitutions:

  • If you don’t have brown sugar, substitute by white sugar or vise versa. Banana bread will be a bit less sweet if using the whole cup of brown sugar
  • For sugar-fee banana bread substitute sugar with ½ cup honey.
  • You can substitute sour cream with yogurt or 1 ½ table spoons of milk
  • If using unsalted butter, add ¼ teaspoon salt
  • You can also substitute butter with baking margarine.
  • Substitute chocolate chips with raisins

Banana Bread Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray loaf pan with baking spray
  2. Mix together dry ingredients: flour, baking soda and salt; set aside
  3. Mash bananas; add sugar, eggs and sour cream and butter and vanilla extract, mix well
  4. Add dry ingredients and mix well again; mix in walnuts and chocolate chips
  5. Add batter to the loaf pan and bake at 350 F for 50-60 minutes until toothpick inserted in the middle of loaf comes out clean. Cool down for 10-15 minutes prior to slicing.
  6. Enjoy toasted with butter

Banana Bread Storage instructions

You can store banana bread in air-tight container for up to 3 days. I’m sure your banana bread will be all gone way before that 🙂
